Hotel Near the Slopes in La Rosière: Why Choose I.L.Y Hotels

‍

A south-facing village resort connected to Italy by its slopes, La Rosière is one of the most pleasant resorts in the Haute-Tarentaise for a family vacation. And for those dreaming of a ski-in/ski-out vacation, one place stands out from the rest: I.L.Y Hotels, a 4-star hotel in the Eucherts neighborhood.

Family ski vacations promise wonderful memories, but they sometimes come with a few logistical hassles we’d gladly do without: walking through the resort in ski boots, carrying the kids’ gear, making multiple trips back and forth to the rental shop before finally being able to head back to your room… So, when it comes to choosing your lodging, the distance to the slopes makes all the difference. In La Rosière, I.L.Y Hotels has a ski shop on the ground floor, and the slopes start right at the hotel’s doorstep.

A hotel at the foot of the slopes in La Rosière

At I.L.Y La Rosière, the slopes are just 50 meters away, and the Eucherts Express chairlift is 300 meters away. In the morning, everything is designed to make getting started easy: you pick up your boots—which have dried overnight in the heated lockers in the ski room—before heading out onto the snow in just a few steps.

Whether you're a beginner or an experienced skier, Marc Pirard—manager of the OlympicSports store at the hotel and former coach of the French national ski teams—and his ski technicians are here to help skiers choose the right equipment.

Passes can also be purchased directly on site.

From the chairlift, skiers have access to the 156 kilometers of slopes in the Franco-Italian Espace San Bernardo ski area, which extends all the way to La Thuile, across the border. This means you can have lunch in Italy and return to the French side for dinner in the evening. Thanks to its south-facing exposure, La Rosière enjoys plenty of sunshine throughout the day. Reaching an altitude of 2,800 meters, the ski area also boasts some of the most abundant snowfall in the Alps.

Family Skiing in La Rosière Without the Hassle: The I.L.Y. Spirit

Behind the initials I.L.Y., which stand for “I Love You,” lies the hotel’s philosophy: the joy of sharing a vacation with those you love, in a place where everyone feels at home. During the day, everyone enjoys the mountains in their own way—whether on the slopes or at the 420 m² NUXE spa—and in the evening, everyone gathers for a convivial meal together. During school breaks, the House of Kids welcomes children ages 4 to 12 from 3:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., including an afternoon snack, with a buffet dinner at 7:00 p.m. that gives parents time to enjoy a meal at Bonami. As for the rooms, the twelve 58-square-meter Family Suites feature a separate area with bunk beds for the children. The resort itself holds the “Famille Plus” certification. And for those evenings when you’d rather not go out again after a day on the slopes, Le Mazot serves its Savoyard specialties—fondue, raclette, tartiflette, and onion soup—right inside the hotel.
